First Sergeant Bruno was born in Chicago, Illinois and was raised on the Spirit Lake Indian Reservation in Fort Totten, North Dakota.  She enlisted in the Marine Corps on 3 August 1999 and attended Recruit Training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina in Platoon, 4034, Oscar Company, 4th Recruit Training Battalion.  

Upon graduating at the top 10 percent of the series from Recruit Training in October 1999, PFC Bruno was the recipient of the Molly Marine and the Iron Woman awards.  PFC Bruno would report to Ft Eustis, Virginia for MOS training as a Transportation Management Specialist (MOS 3112) where she graduated as the Honor Graduate and was meritoriously promoted to Lance Corporal on 2 February 2000.   

Lance Corporal Bruno’s first tour of duty was Iwakuni, Japan where she worked at the Air Terminal Division in the Passenger Service Section. At the completion of her 12 month overseas tour, she was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Corporal on 2 March 2001.  

In March of  2001 she reported  to Headquarters Battalion, Marine Forces Reserve, New Orleans, Louisiana  and was assigned to the Strategic Mobility Office as a Commercial Ticketing Clerk. During this tour Corporal Bruno was selected as NCO of the Quarter for the 4th Quarter Calendar  Year 2001 and  attended the 2001 NCO Symposium in Quantico, Virginia. Cpl Bruno was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Sergeant on 2 August 2002.  

Sergeant Bruno completed the Sergeants Course in December 2002 making the Presidents Honor Roll and received  a Physical Achievement award for attaining a 300 PFT. In January 2003, Sergeant Bruno reported to Drill Instructor School at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina. 

In March of 2003, Sergeant Bruno successfully completed Drill Instructor School graduating at the top 10 percent of  the class and was the recipient of the Iron Woman award. Sgt Bruno reported to Fourth Recruit Training Battalion, Oscar Company in May of 2003 for duty. Sgt Bruno successfully completed 5 platoons as a Drill Instructor, 2 as a Senior Drill instructor, and 1 as an Officer Candidates Instructor. On 2 January 2005, Sgt Bruno was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant.

In May 2007, SSgt Bruno transferred to 1st Marine Logistic Group, Camp Pendleton, CA. and was assigned the billet as the Traffic Management SNCOIC. She deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in February 2008 in Al Taqqudam, Iraq. She was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant on 1 January 2009.  

On 1 June 2009, GySgt Bruno reported to Marine Corps Air Ground Training Center and as the Personal Property SNCOIC/Traffic Chief. In April 2011 GySgt Bruno was assigned as the Company Gunnery Sergeant for Headquarters Battalion and then assumed the position as the Company First Sergeant from August 2011 - March 2012 until reporting to Drill Instructor School class 3-12 .  

GySgt Bruno successfully completed Drill Instructor School in March 2012 and reported to the Recruit Training Regiment in May 2012.  GySgt Bruno was assigned to Drill Instructor School and successfully completed three classes as an instructor. She was frocked to the rank of First Sergeant on 14 January 2013 and reported to the 4th Recruit Training Battalion and served as the Company First Sergeant, Papa Company and Oscar Company.  

On 1 October 2014, 1stSgt Bruno reported to Ground Combat Element Integrated Task Force, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, as the Weapons Company First Sergeant.  

First Sergeant Bruno’s personal decorations include Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal with one gold star, and Good Conduct Medal, fifth award.

She is married to Eduardo Bruno, retired and has two children Gabriel, 7 yrs old and Elliana, 4 yrs old.
